Three Tips for Creating your Social Media Business Pages and Profiles

- Social Media Marketing
Even I sometimes dream of the times before social media. For business owner just venturing into the realm of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media platform, the entire process can seem pretty frustrating. Chances are, if you aren’t already an avid social media user, it will take you some time, research, and possibly tears to get the really ball rolling for your business.
Even after you navigate your way through creating your business page or profile, you still have a lot of work to do to before you even begin trying to attract followers. These tips are for exactly that moment in time and will help you create a page or profile that attracts followers AND creates brand awareness.
- You want people to remember your brand. That’s why selecting brand colors, a logo, a tagline, and a “Brand Statement” are so important. These are the ways customers will consciously (and subconsciously) recognize your business AND remember it time and again when they need your products or services. Make sure to carry these elements over when you create social media profiles (or pages) for your business so that you present a cohesive image to customers that encourages brand recognition.
- Customers are drawn to businesses that set themselves apart. Whether it’s your dedication to good customer service or original products customers can’t get anywhere else, your content needs to reflect how you offer something better and different than the other guys. The easiest way to achieve this is to tell your story through content. Use original pictures and videos that highlight your products or services. Let potential customers get to know you and what you offer.
Pro Tip: When creating post content, keep in mind that images or videos containing smiling faces get more engagement than ones with just products.
- Fill out all Information. When you are creating your business profile or page, make sure to complete all information requested. Most platforms use a “wizard” type process to guide users through the initial creation process, but some, Like Facebook, have additional informational sections that should be completed if they apply to your business. After this, check all your settings. Sometimes the default settings just don’t fit your business. This is where some research will likely come in if you are new to social media. Normally you will find commenting options, visibility options, and security options, along with an array of other options that vary by platform. If you reach a setting you don’t quite understand, don’t be afraid to check out the help section. It’s always better to get it right the first time!
